The Dallas Comic Con was this past weekend and I had a table there. This is the first time I've taken my work to a 'mainstream' comic book convention. I usually target the indie crowd, but this con was so close to where I live and I knew a lot of the other cartoonists going, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Boy was I surprised. By the end of the first day I had almost completely sold out of my books. I got a much bigger reaction than I was even hoping for. Thanks to everyone that stopped by my table to say hi and who picked up my books.Pictures from the con: |
Here's a photo of me at my table on the second day. Notice how paltry my supply of books are by now? This photo was taken by local artist Vinh-Luan Luu. You can see more photos he took at the DCC on his Flickr site. |
While at the DCC I met Chris Straub at his table. He was a great guy to talk to and I picked up one of his books while there. |
Cartoonist Kris Straub not only signed my copy of his book he also drew this awesome sketch inside the cover for me. |
The amazing cartoonist Scott Kurtz, who draws PVP Online, was also at the Dallas Comic Con. Since I already have all his books I picked up one of his Skull plushies for my son. Scott was great to talk to and is almost as funny in person as he is in his comics. |
